Good morning and happy new year!
It’s been a while since I’ve posted, but felt the time had come to start writing again. It’s at this time of year that I usually make lofty resolutions that I never fully keep. This year, I have decided to instead list a few goals for 2016, and the steps I need to take to achieve these goals.
- Write more. This includes blog posts as well as getting back into writing fiction. The plan is to write 1 or more blogs posts per week, and to write down all fiction ideas as they come to me with the hope of turning one or more into a short story, or a chapter in a novel.
- Lose 10 lbs by the New York City Half Marathon on March 20th. This gives me 10 weeks. That’s one pound per week. I think I can do that. This is a goal rather than a resolution because I am already registered for the race, and I know that I will feel better and run better 10 lbs lighter.
- Lose an additional 5-6 lbs by the Brooklyn Half in May. The first 10 lbs are the easiest. After that it’s harder to drop. This gives me another 8 – 10 weeks to lose about 1/2 lb per week. How am I doing this? Diet. Exercise. Running. I already started at a new gym, and have run outside twice in the last week.
- I need to save money to pay down some debt, and to start saving for the future including a house, retirement, etc. One way to start doing this is to STOP BUYING CLOTHES! This, of course is easier said than done. But if I make it an easy goal of say, nothing for the first three months of the year until I really start to assess my spring/summer clothes in April, I think I should be ok. In order to not be tempted, I need to first go through my closet and get rid of stuff I don’t wear ever by either selling it, or giving it away. Then I need to maximize on what remains, and just be better at putting outfits together. Today (see top) was easy. It’s cold outside, so I went with a wool crew sweater and oxford shirt from Uniqlo, flannel pants from J.Crew, wool socks from Polo Ralph Lauren, and chukka boots from Lloyd (purchased in Germany.) Looking good, but not feeling great. Will feel better when I drop a few lbs!
To start, my weight is 181.2. By the time I check in next week, I’m hoping it’s 180 or less. By this time next week, I also hope to have an update on my closet, and perhaps an eBay link. Stay tuned!
