David Bowie 1947 – 2016

I’ve been listening to this “greatest hits” compilation all morning. It started when my daughter who is 2 1/2 woke up and asked to listen to music instead of watching Sesame Street or Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. I figured today was as good a day as any to introduce her to the genius of David Bowie. Just last Friday, on his 69th birthday I streamed his new album Blackstar. However, it’s songs like Young Americans, Golden Years, Heroes, and Let’s Dance that will forever remain in my heart as favorites. I couldn’t explain to my daughter the significance of the music we were listening to, or why mommy & daddy were in sad moods. Honestly, I don’t even think she noticed. She just listened and danced and ate her breakfast and smiled at each track; each of which was completely new to her.

Rest in eternal peace, David Bowie.
